What if my report uses deepest vertical pocket instead of AFI?
This tool is specifically for **AFI** which is the **sum of four quadrants**. If your report only gives a **single deepest vertical pocket** value, do not try to convert it by guessing. Use references and tools that are designed for deepest pocket or ask your provider to explain the result.
Why is my percentile only an estimate?
The percentile is computed from a **normal distribution model** built from anchor values, not from raw clinical data in real time. It is meant to show where a value might sit roughly, not to give an exact ranking in a population.
Can I use this with twins or higher order multiples?
You can enter the numbers, but the underlying model is based on **singleton pregnancies**. For twins or higher order multiples the same AFI value may have a different meaning. Follow your local twin or multiple pregnancy guidance.
Which weeks does the calculator support?
The calculator supports weeks **16 to 42**. Values outside this range are clamped to the nearest supported value so you always see a result.
Is this tool suitable for self diagnosis?
No. It is purely an educational reference and uses a simplified model. Only your healthcare team can interpret AFI values in context and make decisions about monitoring or treatment.
