Bump Pulse FAQ
Answers to common questions about timing contractions, sharing your labor timeline, privacy, and what Bump Pulse can and cannot do.
How do I share control with my partner?
Open Share → Partner sharing and send them the link or show the QR code. Once they are connected, tap their name and choose Full control — from their own phone they can start and stop the timer, edit contractions and manage milestones, just like you. Following along live is free. Full control is part of Birth Certificate Mode, and you can switch back to view only at any time.
Can I share my contractions with my partner?
Yes. You can share your session quickly so your partner can follow the pattern and help you decide your next steps.
When should I go to the hospital?
Many people use the 5-1-1 guideline (about 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute, for 1 hour). Bump Pulse helps you see if you’re trending that way, but your care provider’s instructions come first.
How do I time contractions correctly?
Tap Start at the beginning of a contraction and Stop when it ends. The app automatically tracks duration and time between contractions, so you don’t need to do math.
Is my data backed up?
Yes. Your contractions are saved on your phone and, whenever you are online, synced securely to the cloud with Firebase. There is no sign-up or login.
Can multiple people get notified about contractions?
Yes. Everyone you connect through Partner sharing can get a notification when a contraction starts. Choose what they receive in Settings → Notifications .
What data do you collect and why?
We store your contraction history (times, and any notes, intensity and milestones you add), the partners you connect, and notification tokens so we can send alerts. There is no sign-up, so we do not collect your name or email. You can delete everything at any time in Settings → Delete account & data .
How does QR code sharing work?
Open Share → Partner sharing and tap Invite to show a QR code. With Bump Pulse installed on their phone, your partner scans it to connect. Once connected, they see your contractions live and can get notifications.
What is Partner sharing and how does it work?
Partner sharing lets people you invite — your partner or a doula — follow your contractions in real time on their own phone. They can get a notification when a contraction starts, and with Full control they can time contractions for you too.
Can I edit or delete past contractions?
Yes. Tap a contraction to open it. Use Adjust Timing to change its start or end time, or Delete Contraction to remove it.
How do I track a contraction?
Tap Start when a contraction begins and Stop when it ends. The app records the duration and interval automatically. You can also press and hold Start , then release when the contraction ends.
How do I start using Bump Pulse?
Simply open the app and tap “Start” when a contraction begins. No account is needed to start tracking.
