What does “percent weight difference” mean?

It is the **relative gap** between the larger and smaller twin, calculated as `(larger − smaller) / larger × 100%`. It shows how far apart they are in percentage, not in grams.

What is considered “high discordance” in this tool?

Here, **25% or more** difference is labelled **High discordance**, which often triggers closer follow up in real-life twin care. The label is for education only and does not replace your clinic’s thresholds.

Why do I have to enter chorionicity?

Chorionicity (DC/DA vs MC/DA) changes how carefully differences are usually watched. MC/DA twins share a placenta and may need closer follow up for smaller differences than DC/DA twins.

Are the percentiles specific to twins?

No. The tool uses a **general reference median per week** and a fixed spread. It can give a rough percentile for each twin but does not use a dedicated twin reference chart.

Can I compare scans from different weeks?

You should use **weights from the same scan** and week. If you enter numbers from different dates under one week, the comparison will not reflect a real snapshot of growth.

Does this tool diagnose growth restriction or TTTS/TAPS?

No. It cannot diagnose any condition. It only gives approximate percentiles, a percent difference and a simple match verdict. Diagnosis and follow up decisions must come from your twin clinic or obstetrician.

Is any of my data stored or shared?

The calculator only uses your week, weights and chorionicity to show results on screen. Check the site privacy policy for how general usage is logged, but it is not a medical record.
