Why did some items disappear?
They don't apply to your settings. A home birth, for example, has no drive or check-in.
What is plan B, the emergency backup plan?
A second hospital and a second way to get there, in case the first unit is full or the car won't start.
What if the baby comes before we get there?
Call the emergency number, put it on speaker and follow the six steps on this page: get comfortable, let the baby come, dry and keep them warm skin to skin, leave the cord, note the time.
When should we call the maternity unit?
When your unit's plan says, often when contractions are regular, about 5 minutes apart, for an hour with a first baby. Call sooner after a first baby or with a long trip, and now for any warning sign.
We're planning a home birth. Do we need a hospital?
Yes. Save the nearest one and the route, in case you need to transfer.
